Casters
University of Maryland esports is seeking casters for our broadcast team. These students must exhibit necessary skills to talk in a confident manner on camera and have knowledge of at least one of our esports premier titles. As an esports caster, you will commentate regular season matches, playoff games, and esports events as requested in correlation with our broadcasting schedule for the academic year. Casters should have detailed knowledge regarding gameplay for one or more of our premier titles.
This position may require a 4-15 hour work week. Students may be financially compensated in this position.
Observers
University of Maryland esports is seeking observers for our broadcast team. Observers must have baseline knowledge of one or more of our premier titles that they wish to observe as well as a passion for providing the best viewership experience possible for our broadcasts. As an observer, you will work closely with the broadcast team to operate the best broadcast possible for regular season, playoff, and event games when needed. Observers should have detailed knowledge regarding gameplay for one or more of our premier titles.
This position may require a 5-16 hour work week. Students may be financially compensated in this position.
Photographers
University of Maryland esports is seeking photographers to assist our socials team. These students must have demonstrated experience with camera usage and preferably have one available to them as needed.
As a photographer for the program, you will work closely with social media managers, players, and the graphic designers to ensure we have adequate photo coverage on a regular basis for social channels and broadcasts. This involvement can range from action shots for broadcasts, to team photos for team calendars. Photographers will also assist during travel and events as necessary.
This position may require a 3-5 hour work week. Students may obtain financial compensation for these positions.
Graphic Designers
University of Maryland esports is seeking graphic designers. These students will be assisting in increasing the quality of our social media and event activations within the program.
As a graphic designer, you will collaborate with the other members of the social team, the broadcast team, players, and more to ensure that graphics are presented for socials, broadcasts, facility screens, and during events. Individuals in this role should be very communicative and have a collaborative personality. Graphic designers should have some level of proficiency in software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Canva, etc.
This position may require an 6-8 hour work week. Students may obtain financial compensation for these positions.
Social Media Specialists
Qualified social media team members should have passion and analytical interest with social media and at minimum of our premier team titles. Team member will be assigned to populate content for one social media platform under the Terps Esports banner.
Social media platforms may include: Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
An effective social media specialist will have excellent communication skills, beginner to proficient in Canva, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, skills and be knowledgeable of Discord as a communication pipeline medium.
This position may require an 3-5 hour work week. Students may obtain financial compensation for these positions.
Videographers
University of Maryland esports is seeking videographers to join our content team. Videographers will be executing video projects in cooperation with players and the rest of the content team.
As a videographer, you will be in collaboration with players, the broadcast team, and the rest of the content team to curate creative content for social channels and content areas like Youtube and Twitch. These people should have a creative driven mindset and provide optimal communication across all channels. They also should be able to effectively present project ideas to the esports coordinator.
This position may occasionally have an 5-8 hour work week. Students may obtain financial compensation for these positions.
Video Editors
University of Maryland esports is seeking video editors to join our content team. Selected video editors will work with videographers and respective esports socials team members on finalizing content activations before being dished out to social avenues.
Video editors should have a collaborative mindset and should be able to work seamlessly with videographers and professional esports staff on bringing content visions to life to be utilized in the esports facility, on esports social channels, and on content pages including Youtube and Twitch. Editors should be flexible and innovative with content and understanding trends of what esports content is successful across the industry and within the UMD community.
This position may occasionally have a 6-16 hours a week. Students may obtain financial compensation for these positions.
Content Creation Specialists
Qualified content creation team members should have passion for crafting creative content on behalf of our premier team titles. Team members will be assigned to populate content for a specific platform under the Terps Esports banner.
Content Channels may include: Twitch and YouTube.
An effective content creation specialist will have excellent communication skills, beginner to proficient skill in any of the following software packages: Adobe Premier Pro, DaVinci, Adobe After Effects, Unreal Engine, Apple Motion, Final Cut Pro, Streamlabs or OBS.
Specialist must be knowledgeable of Discord as a communication pipeline medium.
This position may require an 5-7 hour work week. Students may obtain financial compensation for these positions.
Team managers should have extensive organizational skills and be well-versed in scheduling tactics for organized groups.
Team managers will work in tandem with student coaches, players, leagues, the broadcast team, and our administrative team in scheduling team practices, content photoshoots, media interviews and intercollegiate matches.
An effective team manager should have great communication skills, be proficient in usage of Discord, and have basic knowledge of the game title that they wish to manage.
This paid position requires a commitment of at least 5-8 hours per week.
