Vania McBean

Reporting to the Director of University Recreation and Wellness, Jay Gilchrist, the Associate Director, Vania McBean is formally responsible for esports infrastructure and programming, premier team program staffing, data analytics, systems integration, security and network administration.

She collaborates across the University to foster joint esport engagements related to technical resources, media, analytics, development plus networking. She leads strategic planning efforts related to the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive competitive team esport program. 

She provides direction and support for evaluation and assessments of impact and value plus data-driven decision making. She oversees development of annual esport budgets plus monitors and approves spending. She provides advice and support for annual and periodic review of the program.

She works with the University Recreation and Wellness Esports Coordinator, a position held by Mr. Sergio Brack, to set appropriate short and long term goals and objectives for the intercollegiate premier team esports program.

As a former Banneker scholar, she has been on campus for over 30 years. She has over 26 years of experience in the Division of Student Affairs. She was the 2016 Student Affairs Outstanding Service Award Winner.
