The five premier team titles chosen by RecWell for the 2022-2023 season are upward in collegiate program participation, administrative backing and player count. UMD Premier Teams will play in the NACE League for the 2022-2023 season.

Several other popular titles such as CS:GO, DOTA 2, Smite, COD, PUBG, Smash Bros and Apex are played recreationally plus competitively on a club level by members of the Student Government Association (SGA) Gaming Clubs.

We always looking for talented students to join our Premier Teams. Premier Team players must be a currently admitted full time student at the University of Maryland College Park. Current students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Our esports program does not informally guarantee positions, partial or full scholarships to premier esport players. Our esports program does not influence the University admissions process.

Application Process:

  1. Fill out our Interest Form.
  2. Follow all of our accounts including Twitter, Instagram, Twitch and YouTube.
  3. Join our Discord server and introduce yourself in the “Ask a Recruiter” channel.
  4. We may reach out you regarding a seasonal tryout.
  • Official Tryouts are only for current or formally admitted University of Maryland College Park full time students. 
  • You will be assigned a team based on your stats and role.
  • You will be given access to your team channel in discord so you can meet your teammates and discuss strategies and stay up to date on the tryout format.
  • On the day of tryouts, you will be required to check in 1 hour prior to start time where you will be given any additional information relevant to your tryout.

Esports folksPremier Team scholarships are coming.

  • Students must first obtain independent admission to the University before any partial scholarship offers are formally extended. Our program cannot influence the University admissions process.
  • Partial scholarships can be influenced by player rank, GPA, and position played. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be considered for a partial scholarship.
  • Scholarship recipients must participate in at least one community service project per semester to remain eligible.
  • Partial scholarships may not be available until the 2024 season.

Premier Team scholarships are unavailable for the 2022 - 2023 season.

We currently offer merit based partial scholarships for outstanding student employees who hold esports positions.
